Research and Planning - Audience Theories

The Hypodermic Syringe Model Theory - implies that mass media has a big and powerful effect on their audience. For example, they send out their messages and they are injected straight into us as  audience members.

Cultivation Theory - This is a social theory that examines what long term effects television has on audiences of all ages.

Desensitisation Theory - Assumes that the more we watch something the less effected we become by it.

Copycat Model - Assuming that people will copy films and copy anything that they watch.

Uses and Gratifications Theory - With the rise of mass media in the last century, critics worried that its power could destroy freedom through manipulating consumers.
